ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
There are several paths to admission that students may take. Whether you’re a recent high school graduate, a college transfer student or an adult learner, there’s a place for everyone at UMKC — and an avenue to get here.
Freshman
AUTOMATIC ADMISSIONS:
For students who meet a 3.0 UM System core GPA, admission is automatically granted for most UMKC majors.
TEST-OPTIONAL ADMISSION:
For students who earn a 2.75 UM System core GPA or higher, admission is granted without a test score. (Test may still be required for some programs and scholarships.)
COMPETITIVE ADMISSION:
Some programs have limited spots available for new students. Review programs with competitive admissions at umkc.edu/apply.
HIGH SCHOOL COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Transfer
You’ve worked hard to get this far, and we’re excited to have you join us. We strive to make your transition to UMKC as simple as possible.
Students with 23 or fewer transferable college credit hours must submit high school transcripts and ACT/SAT scores for evaluation. Your application can be reviewed without test scores as long as your UM System core GPA is 2.75 or higher.
For students with 24 or more transferrable college credit hours, admission is based on a student’s cumulative transfer GPA.
For a step-by-step application process and information specific to transfers, contact the Center for Transfer Students and Adult Learners at transfers@umkc.edu.
