Strengthening Connections Through Community

Fellow alumni, I am excited for you to receive this year’s issue of Perspectives.

In January 2022, I had the privilege of becoming managing director of Alumni Relations in a full-time role. As an alumna of UMKC, the experience has been especially meaningful. I’m grateful for the opportunity to communicate with you in my first issue as executive editor — and thrilled to share the successes and achievements of our alumni through their stories.

UMKC alumni have made a difference in our university community and for so many others in the communities they serve. This issue highlights the extraordinary contributions and service of some of those alumni. With perseverance and vision, each one has contributed expertise, knowledge and heart to organizations and those in need. Their journeys are truly inspiring.

I would also like to recognize the stewardship, guidance and insights our dedicated Alumni Association leaders have contributed to our projects, initiatives, events and programs. They have advanced our mission through their steadfast dedication to enhancing and expanding experiences for our students, fellow alumni and the entire Roo community. We couldn’t do it without all of you.

As we take the next steps in our journey together, I look forward to collaborating, celebrating, and continuing to create our bright Roo future together.
